My research and professional interests

I am presently working on my doctoral thesis, which studies the development of
Translation Competence in students at our department

I am also particularly interested in applying ICT to learning language and translation skills.
In 1996-7, while working in the Language Centre, I participated in a joint
Internet-based language education project of the Language Centres
of four Finnish universities called The LanguageNet
It has a good collection of  links to pages for learning languages

In 2001-2003 I attended a 5 credit TieVie training program aimed at preparing teachers
to use IT in their teaching and to promote the Finnish Virtual University project.

Free-time interests

I am a member of the Salo Chamber Choir and enjoy singing in a group.

I am a member of the World-wide Bahá'í Community.
If you are interested, read more about it in English or Finnish.
