Processing of expository texts
| We are interested in how expository texts with multiple topics are processed on-line. We are particularly interested in (1) how topic shifts are processed, (2) how signals to topic structure (such as headings) influence the processing of topic shifts, (3) how reading perspective influences the allocation of visual attention to perspective relevant and irrelevant text segments, (4) how repeated reading influences eye fixation patterns, and (5) individual reading strategies. These questions are studied primarily using readers' eye fixation patterns as evidence. |
