Quantum Optics and Quantum Dynamics

The Quantum Optics and Quantum Dynamics group is directed by prof. Kalle-Antti Suominen, and it is one of the five groups that form the Turku Centre for Quantum Physics.

Our research concentrates on the time-dependent behaviour of quantum systems when they are manipulated by external fields and/or interact with their immediate environment. Examples are optically manipulated Bose-Einstein condensates (including spinor condensates), colliding ultracold atoms, photoassociation of atoms into molecules, and non-Markovian dynamics of open quantum systems.

Some of the research activities (and research personnel) of the group are shared with the other groups at the Centre, or at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Turku.
