Sepelkyyhky Columba palumbus Wood Pigeon
Finland, Turku, 11.5.2003

Wood Pigeon has recently started to breed in towns also in Finland. This nest was found on May 10th and is only the third confirmed nest of the downtown area of Turku. Pigeons built the nest very openly in a bird cherry (Prunus padus) bush - but after a couple of days it will be quite safe when the bush have burst into leaf.

Turun ruutukaava-alueen kolmas löydetty sepelkyyhkyn pesä. Kyyhkyt rakensivat pesän hyvin avoimesti tuomen oksanhaaraan mutta lehtien puhjettua muutaman päivän kuluessa paikka lienee melko turvallinen.
