I am interested in food, flavor perception and human behavior. I would like to understand why we are so different food tasters. We experience our own personal sensory worlds, and that fascinates me. My research focuses on the interactions among genetic variations in taste genes and individual differences in taste perception with a special interest in bitterness. As a food chemist I have studied the influences of chemical composition and nutritional properties on the sensory quality of foods, especially Scandinavian berries. I am a member of fff-flavor team in University of Turku.
