MBA, LL.M. Matti Heikkonen defends his dissertation in Quantitative Methods in Management entitled Essays on latent factor models in finance today in our School. Prof. Luis Alvarez is Matti’s first supervisor and also the custos in the public defence, I had the honour of being the second supervisor. ShanghaiRanking (known for its Academic Ranking of World Universities, ARWU) included for the first time University of Turku’s/Turku School of Economics’ Finance on its “Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2017 – Finance”. Looking at their ranking methodology shows that it is actually more like finance+accounting+economics category (especially in our case), but in any case we were ranked quite nicely, in the top 151-200 category. University of Turku (Turku School of Economics) wins the CFA Research Challenge Finland 2017. Aalto University and Lappeenranta were the first and second runner up respectively. University of Turku will continue to the EMEA regional final in Prague. More information: here and here (in Finnish).
This week I had a pleasure to visit Stockholm University’s Business School.
