18.06.2010 - WORLD CUP 2010! ![]() I doubt that many people are reading this anymore, but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my friends Mark and Neil (EreWeGo and Muzzer - without them this place wouldn't exist) and of course everyone else who ever made mods or sent feedback to me. Thanks! I truly hope that Codemasters (or someone else) continues working on the series. Like I've said many times, Sensi 2006 is still a pretty good game despite of its many flaws... The excellent mods prove that the game had so much potential but the Codies missed a great opportunity there. I still play Sensi 2006 every now and then, but because of the lack of more interesting game modes it's usually just a game or two at a time. I hope that some of you enjoyed Sensi 2006 as much as I did (and still do!) Cheers! 24.12.2007 - MERRY XMAS! Happy Christmas & Sensible New Year 2008! :-) ![]() 19.12.2007 - NEW SWOS FOR XBOX 360! Hello again! ![]() The good news is that the long-anticipated remake of SWOS will be released today! The bad news is that it's going to be for Xbox 360 only, and there has been no official announcement for a PC release yet. Anyway, head over to the official SWOS website for more information about the game! Let's hope that the new SWOS will be a success and that we'll get it for PC as well... It's been more than a year and a half since the release of Sensi 2006, and with the new SWOS and other new footie games coming, I guess that the interest in this game will slowly be dying. Therefore, I've started deleting some of the older files, as I need the webspace for other stuff. You may still request those files from me by sending an email, but I don't think that anyone's really interested in those since there are better mods available. 08.10.2007 - ONE LAST HURRAH? Woah! It's been months since the last proper update. This time I've just added another little mod in the miscellaneous section and updated some old links... Also, the feedback form seems to be broken at the moment, so please use e-mail if you want to contact me. :-) 06.04.2007 - MEGAPATCH! The MegaPatch is finally available for download! Actually it has been there for a day or two already but I've been too busy (read: lazy) to update the front page... The MegaPatch is a large collection of all the best mods and it also contains an installer and a new mod launcher! That makes the Megapatch an essential download for all the new players - those who have already tried the best existing mods won't find anything new here, except for a crazy little moonsoccer mod, and the great new mod launcher Sensi Starter of course. Anyway, head over to the miscellaneous section or click the download icon below to download the Megapatch. ![]() more information
![]() 17.03.2007 - BROKEN LINKS! I found some links that weren't working anymore on the website. Please report any broken link to me if you find one. There should be some new mods again pretty soon, so watch this space... 03.02.2007 - CLASSICS PATCH!
Okay people, I've got some more goodies for you again...Muzzer has been working hard and made us two new mods. The first one is a great classics patch that adds 220 classic teams into the game! Most of them are classic British teams, but there are lots of European and international classics too. So, if you want to re-live the magic moments of your favourite club again, go on and give this mod a try! And there's lots of other new changes too... The second mod is another team update that adds a lot of new clubs (replacing some 'smaller' clubs) to the game and updates most of the existing ones. Both of the new mods (and more information about them) can be found in the miscellaneous section. Oh, and please give some feedback about the mods and this website... You can drop a message for the authors of the mods (there may be some information in the readme files) or use the feedback thingy to contact me, and I'll forward the message. Have fun! 26.01.2007 - HNY2007! First of all, happy 2007 everyone! It's been a bit quiet in here recently, but I'm back again with lots of new mods for all of you. Just have a look around and you should find some new stuff. Muzzer and EreWeGo updated their AI mod again and it's better than ever now. There's a 2-player mod now as well (human vs. human) so if you play Sensi06 with your mates, you should try this. EreWeGo has also done a lot of other stuff, a new add-on for the sound mod, an all-in-one patch for lazy people, new pitches and skins, etc... Well, like I said, just have a look around... ;-) 11.11.2006 - TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STARS! I thought it'd be a good idea to mark all the essential (in my opinion) mods somehow, to make things easier for those who aren't familiar with the mods. So there's a little 'recommended' symbol now next to each mod that I find so good that you should at least try it. Those will change as new and better mods become available (and if I remember to update them). I've also done some other small (mostly cosmetic) changes, trying to make this website look a little bit less messy... The 'recommended' symbol looks like this: ![]() 10.11.2006 - MESSAGEBOX THINGY! Hello again! I created a little feedback box on the Contact page. I'd be pleased if you spent a moment and used it to send me a message (comments about this website, suggestions, requests, or anything you like...)
I heard that SensibleSoccer.de, the biggest Sensible Soccer related fansite on the net and the online home of a big SWOS community and, has been terrorised by hackers. Apparently they've caused big financial damage, and because SS.de is only a fansite that's run by a few dedicated fans (who get no financial support from Codemasters or anything), they might have to close down the site. Let's hope that it won't happen, because that would be a big blow for the whole sensible world of soccer. They're collecting donations at the moment, so please help them out if you feel like it. Visit their website for more information. And that's not the end of bad news, I'm afraid: Last month we tried to contact Codemasters via our contact person, and asked them to help us (the modders) out a bit with some of the more complicated things (with the game AI) that we haven't figured out just yet. They promised to look into it, but earlier this week we got an answer (or a slap in the face, more like) ; Codemasters did take great interest in trying to do it, but unfortunately they've been advised not to release these details. Well, I didn't expect them to release the source code of the game or anything, but since there has been no official patch or any kind of support from Codemasters, giving a little bit of advice for the modders (who have already succeeded in making the game much better and kept it alive) would have been the least they should have done. I can't understand why they don't want to help people who are trying to make their own game better, surely if it sells just a few more copies it would be worth the effort? But Codemasters are probably already making cunning plans on how to suck money out of some new customers...Oh well, the good news is that we still have our fan-made mods, and if you haven't tried the new AI mod by Muzzer and EreWeGo yet, I suggest that you do so right now! 07.11.2006 - VIVA LA AI REVOLUCIÓN! EreWeGo and Muzzer have finally released the latest version of the AI mod that they've been working on. It can now be found in the AI/Gameplay section of the site. I've been playing this mod (and its earlier test versions) quite a bit already, and in my opinion it's easily the best AI mod at the moment, so I strongly recommend you to try this, even if you've already given up on Sensi 2006! I'm not even going to describe all the features of the mod here because it changes the game in so many different ways (you might not even notice all of them) - just give it a try and you might be pleasantly surprised! ;-) Watch this space for more information soon... 24.09.2006 - ACHTUNG! NEW UPDATES! Whoa! It's been a while since I've last updated the news section, but I've got some nice new Sensi goodies for you now. The newest addition to Sensible Mods is Muzzer's HUGE Player/Team/Kit update that can be found in the Miscellaneous section of this site. This is good news for the English football fans especially, because the top two divisions in England are now up-to-date (updated kits, player transfers, relegated/promoted teams), and Muzzer has made changes for the other big European clubs too. The update also adds new club and national teams to the game, some of the existing (and not-so-well-known) clubs and national teams are replaced with new ones. Excellent work!Another important mod that I really should mention is EreWeGo's AI/Gameplay mod, that once again makes Sensi a little bit more challenging. Just give it a try and see if you like it. If you find it too challenging, you might want to try Crusader's latest gameplay mod - some people say that it's already a bit too easy though. And then there's a real gem in the Sounds section - EreWeGo has updated his sound mod again that really improves the match atmosphere. Check out the add-on for it too, you won't even believe how much better the updated sound effects are! Oh, and thanks for all the e-mails that you sent to me during the last month - looks like the Sensi mod community and the interest in mods isn't completely dead yet. Have fun! 14.08.2006 - THUMBLEWEEDS ROLLING ALONG THE CYBERSPACE... Well, not much has happened in the world of Sensi 2006 recently, but I thought I'd write a little bit something anyway. No new mods or updates, no feedback, nothing. Well, I did upload Muzzer71's team kits mod into the Miscellaneous section of the website, but that's all really. I'll still try to keep the mod community alive, but I don't know if anyone's even working on any mods right now. Are we all waiting for Sensible (World of) Soccer 2007 already then? Is anyone even playing Sensi 2006 anymore? Drop me an e-mail or something and let me know! :-) 11.07.2006 - TOMMYBOO RECOMMENDS! So, the World Cup is finally over and it's time to concentrate on more sensible things again. There hasn't been much going on in the modding community recently, so there's been no need for updates, but I've uploaded some new files on the website today, including an interesting sound mod by EreWeGo. The commentary bits (ripped from Sensi '98) in it sound a bit silly, but it's still good and I believe he's working on a new version already. Some people might already be a bit confused about all the different mods (even though there aren't even that many mods released yet), so I thought it would be a good idea to make a short list of the "essential" mods, to make life a little bit easier for those who don't have enough time to test all the available mods! So here are my current favourite mods, the settings that I use when I play Sensi 2006: Camera: View_lesswobble_medhigh.ini - I thought the original camera view is too much zoomed in and it shakes in an annoying way all the time, so if you agree with me you might want to try this! This nice camera mode by Snadert zooms out the view a little bit (but still not too far away, like some other mods do) and reduces the amount of 'wobble'. Check out the preview screenshot in the Camera Mods section! Real names: SynchronatedSensi.zip - if you find the made-up fake names annoying, then this mod is for you - it changes all the player and team names in the game to what they should be! Well, that's all I can think of right now! If you're not happy with these, you should check out some of the other mods as well. I also recommend that you use the the Sensible Socks loader - it makes changing the mods very easy for you and you don't have to worry about changing filenames anymore. I'll probably add some sort of an "Essentials" section on this website some time later, right now I think it'd be rather pointless. Oh, and because of massive amount of negative e-mails (well, two) that I've received, I changed the background colours and images a little bit. Hopefully it isn't as confusing now as it used to be! Have fun! 26.06.2006 - NEW SOCKS! First of all, a brand new version of Sensible Socks is out now! Go get it now - head over to the miscellaneous section and start downloading. It now has a very cool preview feature - you can have a preview screenshot for each camera angle that'll help you to choose the right view for you. Cheers Snadert. Also, this funny Italian chap dadiduekappa has updated his (and BBS3's?) AI and gameplay patch again - this time he has modestly called it 'perfect' ! The previous version was called 'FINAL' so I think we're going to see 'more perfect' and other updates in the future... Anyway, the new update is apparently really good, you should give it a try and see if it's perfect or not! Of course there are some other new mods as well, so have a look around and see what you can find. 23.06.2006 - SENSIBLE THOUGHTS! So, I've been playing Sensible Soccer 2006 for nearly two weeks now, and now that the first excitement has worn off I'm hopefully a little bit less biased, so here are my current thoughts about the game. There have been fervent arguments about SS06 on the official Codemasters forums, looks like people there are divided to two different "gangs" - those who love/like it, and those who really hate it (or at least strongly dislike it) and feel that they've been let down. I'm happy to be a member of the first gang, I haven't regretted my purchase yet and I've been having a lot of fun with the game. Still, after playing my very first match in SS06, I was a bit disappointed. I had been playing the demo for a week or two before I bought the game, and there had been promises that all the silly bugs in the demo would have been fixed for the final release. Well, some of them were indeed , but most of them not, which is a big shame. It's not just a coincidence that Sensible Soccer 2006 was released on the same day when this year's World Cup kicked off in Germany... to me it sounds like the game had to be rushed out in a big hurry, so they had to skip the betatesting and bug-fixing phases of the project. And now they're saying that they probably won't even release a patch, so I can understand why some people are very disappointed. Well, worry not, my friend - even though there won't be an official patch, there'll be some very good fan-made mods and updates for the game. I'll try to collect the best of those here on this website. The 'wobbly' zoomed-in camera has been fixed, there are a few very nice camera angles to choose from already, including a cool "retro-Sensi" view. The game has been made much more difficult (the original unmodded game is ridiculously easy when playing against computer) by making the CPU better at shooting, harder to dispossess and tackle, making the headers and volleys more powerful, and so on... You can also replace the 'fake names' for all players and teams with their real names (check out the patch under the 'AI/Gameplay' section), change some of the in-game graphics, and much more. The game has been out for less than two weeks, and there are already so many great modifications for it, and some of them really make the game a more fun and challenging experience (in my opinion).Of course, even the unmodified Sensible Soccer 2006 is an excellent game, in fact it's quite possibly the best new game that I've played for ages. I might not look as good as FIFA 2006 and it's definitely not as realistic as Pro Evolution Soccer 5, but it's incredibly fun to play. It's nice to be in 100% control (well, maybe 99%) of your players and move them and kick the ball around in 360 degrees - that's something that I'd really like to see in other football games! Sure, Sensible Soccer 2006 has its flaws and it has got some nasty bugs in it, but I can now understand why it has got so mixed reviews in different magazines and newspapers. Eurogamer gave it 9/10 and I can understand why, and in a way I can also understand people who don't seem to like it as much, people who obviously don't want to have fun when they play games. I think I'd give 8/10 for the original Sensi 2006 right now (I'm feeling very generous today), 9/10 after modding it a little bit... 22.06.2006 - BIG BANG! Welcome to Sensible Mods! I'm going to collect all sorts of Sensible Soccer 2006 related stuff on this site, so you should pop in every now and then to check if there's something new. The site has just been launched so there's not much to see here yet, but hopefully I'll be able to collect all the essential mods for Sensi 2006 here... Feel free to send any kind of feedback to me, my contact details can be found here. Please send your Sensi 2006 mods via e-mail as well or send me a download link where I can get the file - just make sure that you give me a short description of what the mod does in your e-mail! Please note that I may delete some big files that I find 'unnecessary' (for example preview pictures) to save some web space. Also, I might change some of the filenames to make things less confusing. Thank you. Please bookmark this site and come back soon! Tomi (a.k.a. tommyboo) |
