Current Topics in Longitudinal Data Analysis


The seminar covers topics concerning the statistical methods in longitudinal data analysis and survey-based panel analysis. The topics will be approached from the modeller's and practitioner's points of view. In case of categorical response, advantages and disadvantages of various procedures will be discussed and compared in detail. A general framework to deal with incomplete longitudinal data will be formulated. Also the important issue of weighting arising in panel surveys with a longitudinal objective will be covered. Venue

The symposium will take place in the Publicum Assistentinkatu 7 at the University of Turku. Publicum is situated near the other Universities in Turku and Turku University Hospital, within walking distance from Kupittaa railway station (1.5 km) and about 3 km from the central train and bus stations (see map). The buffet on Monday evening has been reserved in Sigyn Café (street address: Linnankatu 60) by the beautiful river Aura (see map).

Participants are expected to take care of their lodging by themselves. There are a plenty of affordable lodging possibilities both near the Publicum and in the center of Turku within a walking distance from Publicum.

Posters

Participants may present a poster paper in the symposium. The poster session will be arranged in the lobby of Publicum on Monday 26th from 16.45 until 18.30. Please indicate in the registration form if you wish to present a poster.


StatNet Course

The Symposium is a part of the StatNet course meriting 3 credits. The course includes also a final exam based on additional material. For additional information on the course please contact Esa Uusipaikka.


Mini-Symposium

Society of Statisticians in the Finnish Pharmaceutical Industry organises a half-day Mini- Symposium on 'Assessing Non-Inferiority in Clinical Trials' on Wednesday, 28 May 2003. This will be held in conjunction with the Annual Statistical Days of the Finnish Statistical Society at the same premises of the University of Turku. Professor Dr Iris Pigeot (University of Bremen, Germany) will give a talk on 'Assessing non-inferiority of a new treatment in a clinical trial' followed by commentary speakers, Dr Pasi Korhonen (Orion Pharma, Finland) and Professor Juhani Tuominen (University of Turku, Finland). The event ends with a panel discussion. There will be no registration fee for the Mini-Symposium. In case you would like to registrate ONLY to the Mini-Symposium, send e-mail to Pekka Heikkilä.
