Dr. Erkki Kankare

I am a Turku Collegium for Science, Medicine and Technology (TCSMT) researcher at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Turku, Finland. My research interests include astrophysical transients such as core-collapse supernova explosions that mark the end of the life cycles of massive stars, and their usage as cosmological probes of the star formation history of the Universe. I have also recently focussed on the new field of multi-messenger astronomy making use of gravitational-wave and neutrino detections in addition to the conventional observations in electromagnetic wavelengths.
