Hi – Colleagues, friends, and random people on the internet. Welcome to my as yet unnamed blog on sustainability, policy, and, occasionally, the topic of my doctoral project of legitimate sustainable palm oil. I’m not going to write in high academese. That wouldn’t be fit for purpose, and is a pain to do in any case. What I will do is try to make my arguments and observations clear while trying to keep the tone (but usually not the contents) light.
A bit of basic background; I’m Matti William, a doctoral researcher currently based at CEPOR in Zagreb, Croatia with a home affiliation at the Turku School of Economics – University of Turku, Finland. I’ve been around a bit, in Europe, Liberia and South East Asia, and I like to observe and understand the goings on around me. I’m interested in processes (industrial, organisational and human), speeding up the transition to sustainability, and fixing problems (sometimes successfully!). I have lots of ideas, but not always time to take them forward – I’ll write about a few of those too. Also, I like trains.
In some later post, I’ll discuss my doctoral project in a bit more detail. My next post will probably be about where I’m sitting now and maybe a little about how/why I’m here now. That’s it for now.
