This is a continuation of KIEN2161, intended to help 2nd/3rd year Humanities students in their academic studies and future working life. Students further develop their academic skills, research a topic using the  discourse and terminology of their field, and participate in a seminar day, discussing and sharing ideas with peers.

This course is for Master’s students of the International degree programs of Education (LLEES), East Asian Studies, Baltic Sea Region Studies, Popular Culture, and European Heritage. This course is also for Social Sciences Master’s students who are writing their thesis in English, as a blended/online course in the spring of 2017.

During this course, a series of lectures, workshops and clinics are offered, from which researchers build an individual course plan. Researchers use their own texts as the basis of analysis throughout the course and are encouraged to investigate language choices that are typical of their academic discipline.

KIEN3024: Writing Grant Proposals (UTUGS  only)

This course covers the main features of a grant proposal, as researchers practise writing competitive proposals which engage, and are understood by, both experts and non-experts. Researchers work to create a proposal for a real grant application, either of their own choosing or that of the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
