I currently work on the Kone Foundation project <a href=\"https:\/\/users.utu.fi\/valvil\/kone-project\"><em>The Emergence of Pessimism<\/em><\/a>. I am also a member of the Editorial Board of the newly launched <a href=\"https:\/\/ugp.rug.nl\/jss\/index\"><em>Journal of Spinoza Studies<\/em><\/a> (University of Groningen Press) and lead the multidisciplinary <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.utu.fi\/rerg\/\">Romantic Era Research Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thematically, what has through the years interested me the most are ethical questions and theories concerning human agency embedded in basic ontological commitments.
