Young Academy Finland (YAF) is a multidisciplinary forum for young researchers. Its purpose is to promote science from the perspective of young researchers and increase the visibility of science in society and schools. YAF was founded in 2017 on the initiative of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters and it received funding from the Emil Aaltonen Foundation. I was selected as a deputy board member of YAF for seasons 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. During season 2018-2019 I was acting as the head of the working group of Tutkija tavattavissa – Meet a researcher service, which aims to bring researchers from a variety of disciplines to schools and educational institutes for virtual visits.
Before YAF was founded, the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters had Young Academy Club meetings where young researchers in different fields presented their work to fellow young researchers. I was invited to be part of Young Academy Club for season 2016-2017 where I also presented my work and actively participated in the discussions. All the presentations and the following discussions were recorded and these can be found from the webpages of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters.
