The basic rule: feel free to use anything you find on these pages. Downloading one of the cute wasp photos as a desktop picture is quite ok! If it’s not clearly marked otherwise, consider it CC0: i.e. use any way you want and don’t stress about it.
That said, you may wish to consider mentioning my name or linking to this site. I would appreciate it, and it makes it easier for others to find this site. For example:
- Photos in formal presentations
- I suggest adding my name to e.g. the bottom right corner. If there is space for a link, all the better.
- Content reused in scientific text
- Cite! It’s no real problem for me if you don’t, but your readers need to know the original source. That way, if I’ve said something stupid, they know who to complain to.
Citation
Citing web pages is an art form of its own. I suggest something along the lines of:

Note that there is no guarantee the page you cite will exist forever. If it’s something important, you may want to save a copy of the page or a screenshot.
